Results - 3DMark06 (ver 1.2)Despite its rather impressive clock speeds, the Gigabyte was marginally slower in 3DMark06 than the other overclocked cards we included. A closer look showed that while it may have a 700MHz core, its stream processor clock (@1675MHz) and memory (@1900MHz) were slightly slower than the other leading cards of our shootout, and that may be a reason for its scores here, which was narrowly clinched by the ASUS TOP Edition.

Results - Company of Heroes & F.E.A.RIn Company of Heroes, the cards were all quite similar in performance and at the kind of frame rates we were getting, a difference of only a couple of frames is not that significant. Such a small difference was also seen in F.E.A.R, with the overclocked cards mostly clustered together. At lower resolutions, one could probably argue for an overclocked GeForce 8800 GT over the standard version, since the gap would seem wider.

Results - Unreal Tournament 3 Demo & CrysisIf we were picky enough, there is definitely a distinct band separating the Gigabyte from the other overclocked cards in these two benchmarks, with the Gigabyte the slower of them. The absolute difference in values ranges from 2 to 4 frames per second and going solely by the clock speeds on the Gigabyte, it does seem not as fast as it should be on paper (even when considering the small difference in both shader and memory clocks speeds).

OverclockingSome of you may have expected the lower temperatures on the Gigabyte GV-NX88T512HP to allow for greater overclocking tolerance but as we found out here, that's not always the case. Ironically, the best overclock we achieved so far was done on the standard reference version from Gigabyte, and not the one with the custom cooler. In any case, the eventual 3DMark06 scores weren't that far apart due to the minor differences in clock speeds.
